We continue to make history as we improve our quality, professionalism and ability to respond to the demands of the market. With 34 hemodialysis clinics and more than 2, 000 employees, we achieve our goals in providing integrated renal care to more than 4, 000 dialysis patients on a daily basis.
Fresenius Medical Care started operating in Portugal in 1993, by selling a wide range of products used in the treatment of chronic kidney failure.
As a result of Fresenius AG's acquisition of the international American company National Medical Care Inc. (NMC) in 1996, we expanded our services in Portugal, providing healthcare to dialysis patients, and patient transportation service. Currently, in our 34 hemodialysis clinics we carry out more than 650, 000 treatments per year to approximately 4,100 patients with chronic kidney failure.
The evolution in our services, in Portugal, has been in constant development. Our leadership as a multinational company providing services and products for dialysis has allowed us to offer a wide range of solutions of the utmost quality to numerous patients with chronic kidney disease.
Our commitment expresses itself not only by the important investments made to our top of the line infrastructures, but also in the approximately 2,000 jobs that we have created. We are the largest private national provider working with the Portuguese State in the sector of dialysis, with revenues superior to 93 million Euros per year.
