Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD)

For the APD treatment, we have developed the sleep.safe cycler, which offers a wide range of therapeutic options such as CCPD (Continuous Cycling Peritoneal Dialysis), IPD (Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis), NIPD (Nocturnal Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis), Tidal and PD-Plus, as well as infusion, drainage, permanence and glucose for each specified treatment.

CCPD (Continuos Clycling Peritoneal Dialysis)

This is a therapy that is carried out continuously during the night (8 to 10 hours of treatment, 7 days a week), with the last infusion that lasts in the abdominal cavity during the day until the next treatment at night.

IPD (Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis)

This is an intermittent therapy carried out two or three times a week with great volumes of liquid (40 to 60 litres per treatment). Between treatments the abdominal cavity remains empty.

NIPD (Nocturnal Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis)

Consists of nocturnal treatment (8 to 10 hours of treatment, 7 days a week), were there is no last infusion therefore the patient does not undergo treatment during the day.

Tidal

This is a continuous nocturnal treatment (8 to 10 hours of treatment, 7 days a week). In this treatment the volume drained is inferior to the existing volume in the abdominal cavity, as the cavity contains a small residual volume until the last drainage of the base cycle. The Tidal treatment may have one last infusion. If not it is named TNPD (Tidal Nocturnal Peritoneal Dialysis)..

PD-Plus

This is a complementary treatment to any of the therapies mentioned previously. Its objective is to improve the global efficiency of treatment being carried out. PD-Plus is therefore an addition to the nocturnal treatment that may or may use the sleep.safe cycler.

For an APD treatment, in addition to the sleep.safeT cycler, is also necessary:

  • Solution bags: available with lactate or pure bicarbonate buffers;
  • Sleep.safe set in order to carry out the treatment;
  • Drainage set (bags) / drainage line extension in order to collect the drained fluid;
  • Disinfectant Capsules for when the extension of the catheter is closed.
